The school holidays are upon us! So sit back and relax and enjoy some inspirational dance films.

 

1. Centre Stage. PG 13+

 

A classic teen drama that follows aspiring ballerinas during their time at the American Ballet Academy. 

 

2. Ballerina. PG

 

Follows an orphan girl who dreams of becoming a ballerina in Paris. Featuring Maddie Ziegler as Camille. 

 

3. Billy Elliot. M

 

A classic british film were an 11 year old boy from northern - eastern England defies the odds to join the Royal Ballet School during the coal miners strike. 

 

4. Dance Academy: The Movie. PG

 

Picks up the lives of the popular characters from the Australian TV Show, Dance Academy. 

 

5. Dirty Dancing. M

 

A romantic classic that see Frances learn to dance with the hotel's dance instructor while on vacation with her family during the summer. 

 

6.  Black Swan. MA15+

 

Captivating thriller that following New York ballerina Nina as she rivals for a lead role in the upcoming performance of Swan Lake.  

 

7.  Strictly Ballroom. PG

 

A Baz Luhrmann hit featuring the likes of Paul Mercurio, Tara Morice, Bill Hunter, Pat Thomson and more and they prepare for the upcoming Australian Championship. 

 

8. Razzle Dazzle. PG

 

An Australian mockumentary  that enters the curious world of children's dance competitions. As Mr Jonathan's troupe prepares for the Sanosafe Troupe Spectacular.

 

9. Ballet Shoes. PG.

 

A story of 3 orphan girls who are given the ultimate gift when the are adopted. Featuring Emma Watson.

 

10. Fame. M

 

A hit drama from the 80's that explores a New York performing arts high school.
